This privacy policy explains how Make Sense Of It Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses personal data through this website and when you get in touch with us. Make Sense Of It Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16107549). Our registered office is 10 Oldhill Street, London, N16 6LB.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What we collect

We keep the data we hold to a minimum.

  • When you contact us. If you email us or use the contact details on this site, we collect your name, your email address, and anything you choose to put in your message.
  • Technical data. This is a static website. We do not use analytics and we do not track visitors. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability; we do not use these for analytics or marketing.

Please do not send us special category data (such as health information) by email.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies. We do not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

Why we use your data, and our lawful basis

We use the data you give us to:

  • respond to your enquiry and correspond with you; and
  • where relevant, discuss and scope working together.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us and running our business, and - where you are asking us to do work for you - taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our business, such as our email and website hosting providers. They process data on our behalf under contract, and only on our instructions. Where a provider operates outside the UK, we make sure an appropriate safeguard (such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement) is in place.

We may also disclose data where we are required to by law.

Keeping your data secure

We take the security of personal data seriously and apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it. Make Sense Of It Ltd is certified under the UK Government's Cyber Essentials scheme.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, and longer where we have a legal reason to (for example, a contract or tax records). When we no longer need it, we delete it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete data, or restrict or object to how we use it; and
  • where it applies, receive your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these, email us at hello@make-sense-of-it.com. There is normally no charge, and we will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. We are registered with the ICO under registration reference ZC060621.
